การแข่งขัน
การแสวงหาคู่ครองทางเพศเป็นกิจกรรมที่มีลักษณะของการแข่งขันปรากฏให้เห็น ผู้ชายต้องการเป็นที่ปรารถนาและมีเพศสัมพันธ์กับผู้หญิงที่มีความน่าสนใจและน่าดึงดูดทางเพศ ในอีกทางหนึ่งผู้หญิงมักรู้สึกดึงดูดและยอมรับผู้ชายที่มีอำนาจหรือสถานะสูงที่สุดเท่าที่ตนจะสามารถเลือกได้เป็นคู่ครองทางเพศ โดยบ่อยครั้งผู้ชายต้องพิสูจน์คุณค่าของตนเองก่อนจึงจะได้รับการยอมรับ

Societies have used different methods to control sexual desire and reduce frustration and conflicts that arrive from these complex personal relationships.
Woman have often been considered the possession of the male, this creates a situation where the woman is expected to service the mans sexual desires, and in most cultures in return for this the man protects and provides for the woman.
Arranged marriages ensure that most members of society had a sexual partner, heavily reducing the competitive nature of mate selection.
Manipulating people into believing desire for sex is a bad thing is common in many societies, this creates a self-imposed control on the negative competitive nature of finding a mate, with attention focused more on child rearing.
Current behavior
Spread of knowledge and enlightened developments such as women's rights have changed newer generations views and behaviors regarding sex and procreation. It is a period where past cultural norms such as marriage or viewing sex as a taboo subject still exist but new norms such as selfish consumption combine.
People are having less children and marriages fail at increasing rates, with alternatives to the complex nature of maintaining a sexual relationship such as pornography, many people choose not to bother finding sexual partners.
Sex within an Izara Community
Because it is such an important part of peoples lives communities can create rules that support members. These rules should be based on the scientific method, goals should be stated and rules that achieve those goals tested.
For example if it is decided that both men and women should regularly be having sex, for example to reduce frustration, increase productivity or make people more happy allocated sexual activity or similar rules could be implemented.
Other methods of releasing sexual tension could be considered.
