In order for communities to achieve self-sufficiency and develop an economy that is not dependent on external power structures a method of rewarding tasks and popular activities can be created and managed by the community.
A token currency could be implemented, all aspects of which are determined by self governance.

Wealth in a capitalistic society is a primary method of concentrating power, with self governance the community can dictate the value of different tasks people perform and limitations on wealth.
