Sexual relationships
Overview
Sexual animal natures are some of the strongest drives peoples experience, for obvious reasons humans crave finding partners to mate with, during initial stages it is driven by the bodies desire to have sex, over time it normally morphs into a desire to have children.
Frustration
Both men and women develop feelings of frustration when they desire but are denied sex, with men feeling higher levels of frustration which can come out as aggression.
For men the craving to have intercourse is strong and rises regularly. For women the desire is more to possess or be possessed by a man, to feel safe and have a good future with sex being partly a craving, especially during selection of a mate or when a child is desired, and partly a service to care for her mate.
If the goal of a community has goals of kindness and respect and increasing productivity rules could be put in place that alleviate the frustration and attention that sexual relationships demand of members.
Competition
The pursuit of sexual partner/s is a competitive endeavor, men wish to be desired by and have sexual intercourse with the most sexually attractive females, women feel drawn to and will accept as a sexual partner the most powerful man she can, often requiring a man to prove his worth.
The desire to possess a better mate than others is a manifestation of greed, from an evolution standpoint it is a method that encourages the most powerful and strong people to reproduce.
An altruistic community that wishes to reduce greed and discourage the pursuit of individual power could extend this to the competitive nature of sex by allocated sexual activity
Historical controls
Societies have used different methods to control sexual desire and reduce frustration and conflicts that arrive from these complex personal relationships.
Woman have often been considered the possession of the male, this creates a situation where the woman is expected to service the mans sexual desires, and in most cultures in return for this the man protects and provides for the woman.
Arranged marriages ensure that most members of society had a sexual partner, heavily reducing the competitive nature of mate selection.
Manipulating people into believing desire for sex is a bad thing is common in many societies, this creates a self-imposed control on the negative competitive nature of finding a mate, with attention focused more on child rearing.
Current behavior
Spread of knowledge and enlightened developments such as women's rights have changed newer generations views and behaviors regarding sex and procreation. It is a period where past cultural norms such as marriage or viewing sex as a taboo subject still exist but new norms such as selfish consumption combine.
People are having less children and marriages fail at increasing rates, with alternatives to the complex nature of maintaining a sexual relationship such as pornography, many people choose not to bother finding sexual partners.
Sex within an Izara Community
Because it is such an important part of peoples lives communities can create rules that support members. These rules should be based on the scientific method, goals should be stated and rules that achieve those goals tested.
For example if it is decided that both men and women should regularly be having sex, for example to reduce frustration, increase productivity or make people more happy allocated sexual activity or similar rules could be implemented.
Other methods of releasing sexual tension could be considered.
Humility, kindness and respect should be expressed, and because Izara Communities value truth seeking and transparency the topic openly discussed.
