Overview

Positions of power over time manifest methods to increase and maintain that power, as the primary drive for individuals to gain that position is to have power. As the position transforms it no longer serves the purpose it was initially intended for.

As technology and understanding of psychology and social manipulation improve the ability to maintain and expand such positions become more dangerous.

Power attracts evil

People who want to obtain power over other people are attracted to and will fight harder to achieve positions of power, whereas rational kind people's desire to exert power over others would hinder their commitment to achieving power.

People who want to harm others under normal circumstances would be punished by society for doing so, achieving a position of power gives opportunity to act out their desires without consequences.

People who are comfortable with lying in order to enrich themselves can see being a position that has decision making power affords the opportunity for corruption, and as such will seek out such positions.
