กระบวนการทางวิทยาศาสตร์เป็นเทคนิคที่ค่อนข้างเรียบง่าย ซึ่งชุมชนสามารถใช้ในการตัดสินใจเพื่อให้บรรลุผลลัพธ์ที่ต้องการ แทนที่จะตั้งสมมติฐานและโต้เถียงว่าสมมติฐานใดถูกต้อง ชุมชนสามารถทดลอง และทดสอบแนวคิดต่าง ๆ กำหนดตัวชี้วัดที่สามารถวัดผลลัพธ์ได้ และเปรียบเทียบการทดลองที่แตกต่างกัน
When combined with humility and the Socratic method no experiment result should be considered absolute truth, all results should be replicatable and able to hold up to scrutiny, new ideas that counter established beliefs should not be ignored and ridiculed but rather given the chance to prove themselves through experimentation.
