Humans have evolved with traits that supported us during difficult times, but in times of abundance, if not managed behaviors such as laziness, fear/hatred of others, materialism or consumerism leave humans feeling unsatisfied.
History has created structures such as religion that understand human satisfaction and offer methods to achieve happiness.
Existing societies
As knowledge increases people no longer adhere to religious principles and look to other sources of satisfaction, evil people fill the void by offering replacements that fulfill our animal nature but do not make people genuinely happy.
