Overview
By seeking truth better decisions can be made, however in complex systems absolute truth is difficult, sometimes impossible to attain. Because ambiguities exist the goal is to come as close to the truth as the current information allows, to search for more information, and to reassess understandings as the information changes.
There are techniques that can be applied that assist in truth seeking, such as the Scientific method and Socratic method.
Rational thinking
An ability to think rationally will aid community members achieve the outcomes they desire. Clearly stating what result is wanted, using logic, data, and analysis will help determine whether a chosen course most closely achieved the result.
